Ancient Studies Institute
The Institute encourages the use of renewable energy and alternative transportation. Our consumption of electricity is offset by buying through Mass Energy Consumers Alliance a share in the Hull, MA, wind turbine. A discount of $2 per lesson is offered to students who walk, bike, or take public transportation to lessons here. The Institute supports the work of the renewable energy committee of GreenPort, an environmental organization of residents in the Cambridgeport neighborhood of Cambridge, MA. The Institute also seconds the efforts of the Cambridgeport representative in the MA legislature to improve the environment (Martha M. Walz: Rep.MartyWalz@Hou.State.MA.US, 437(temp)-722-2460). For information about environmental issues and opportunities affecting Cambridgeport, consult
1. Cambridge Energy Alliance.
2. Green Decade/Cambridge: A group of Cambridge residents concerned about global warming and taking action locally.
3. The Renewable Energy Trust of the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative can facilitate rebates for small renewable energy projects.
4. The Environmental League of Massachusetts (ELM) provides information about pending legislation.
