Ancient Studies Institute Hours by appointment. The Ancient Studies Subscription Library has about 600 texts and cassette tapes relating to the Greek and Latin languages and civilizations. Its sound recordings and large variety of books are of interest to the classics teacher, student, or enthusiast. --Anyone may apply for membership ($45 a year; free for Ancient Studies Institute students). Members may check out up to ten books for a two-month period. Five cassette tapes may be borrowed for two weeks. --Books or cassettes may be checked out again after one week if the items remain available. The holdings include but are not limited to --Textbook-style Greek and Latin books. Perfect for first-time students or a little review for veterans of the classics. --Original texts in the original languages. Wide variety of titles and authors of the ancient classics; also some medieval and modern Latin texts. Most are annotated and easy to use with relevant vocabulary and grammar tips included. From Aeschylus to Xenophon, Augustine to Vergil. --Greek and Latin dictionaries and grammars. Variety of publishers, editors, editions, and sizes. --Modern English translations of the classics. Brush up on the classics in the language you're comfortable with or compare to your own masterful translations. --Modern commentaries on classical texts. Various commentators and texts. Extremely useful for scholarship of all kinds. --A collection of the Classics Association of New England Instructional Texts, an ever-growing number of short classical texts fully glossed and annotated on facing pages.
